An "impossibly endearing" (Sarah Penner, New York Times bestselling author) debut novel about three clairvoyant sisters who face an unexpected twist of Fate at the bottom of their own delicate porcelain cups.
Ever since the untimely death of their parents, Anne, Beatrix, and Violet Quigley have made a business of threading together the stories that rest in the swirls of ginger, cloves, and cardamon that lie at the bottom of their customers' cups. Their days at the teashop are filled with talk of butterflies and good fortune intertwined with the sound of cinnamon shortbread being snapped by laced fingers.

That is, until the Council of Witches comes calling with news that the city Diviner has lost her powers, and the sisters suddenly find themselves being pulled in different directions. As Anne's magic begins to develop beyond that of her sisters', Beatrix's writing attracts the attention of a publisher, and Violet is enchanted by the song of the circus—and perhaps a mischievous trapeze artist threatening to sweep her off her feet—it seems a family curse that threatens to separate the sisters is taking effect.

With dwindling time to rewrite their future and help three other witches challenge their own destinies, the Quigleys set out to bargain with Fate. But in focusing so closely on saving each other, will they lose sight of themselves?

A trio of witch sisters star in Sivinski’s charming if slightly overstuffed historical fantasy debut. Anne, Beatrix, and Violet Quigley happily run the Crescent Moon teahouse in 1870s Chicago—until the Council of Witches pays them a visit and assigns them a complicated mission: help three unfulfilled witches learn their Tasks, or true callings, before those witches die. Failure to uncover these witches’ Tasks will bring negative consequences, including the Council shutting down the teahouse. As the sisters set out on this daunting quest, they discover that someone has cursed them, intending to tear them apart and prevent them from using their magic as seers. Now the sisters must juggle breaking that curse and helping the witches figure out their Tasks. There’s a lot going on, but the story often meanders as Sivinski unfolds the sisters’ various adventures. Still, the fierce love between the protagonists rings true, and the rich, cozy setting will make readers wish they had their own warm cup of tea. This satisfies. Agent: Adria Goetz, KT Literary.

This pleasant fantasy is given an appropriately lighthearted narration by Nikki Massoud. The magical Quigley sisters--Anne, Violet and Beatrix--run the Crescent Moon Tearoom, serving enchanted cups of tea and hopeful readings to their satisfied clients. All is serene until the Council of Witches appear, demanding that the Quigleys coach three other witches who haven't properly fulfilled their witchy obligations. Dire consequences will result if they fail. Additionally, the close-knit sisters learn that a family curse is destined to separate them. Massoud presents each of the slacker witches with good-natured humor, while the Quigleys sound kind and caring. Massoud's lilting voice is loaded with charm; the sisters sound credible and their problems urgent. Delicious descriptions and captivating characters provide a delightful audiobook steeped in love.
